The prophet, blessings and peace be upon him, chose this place to be a graveyard for his companions. Around 10,000 of the honorable companions were buried there. Because of the large number of righteous people who were buried in this cemetery, it is called Al-Baqi' Garden.

The story of Baqi Al-Gharqad: Al-Baqi&rsquo; was a piece of land densely covered with nitre bushes (Ar. gharqad), outside Madinah, to the east of the prophet&rsquo;s Mosque. The prophet, blessings and peace be upon him, turned it established it as a cemetery for Muslims. So, the bushes were uprooted. Due to urbanization and growth of Madinah, the cemetery is now located inside the city. Residents of Madinah visit the cemetery as it reminds them of the hereafter, to greet the dead who were buried there and to pray for them. Historic milestone: Around 10,000 of the prophet's companions were buried in Al-Baqi, including some of the mothers of the believers, the daughters of the prophet, his son Ibrahim, and Othman ibn Affan - one of the Rightly Guided Caliphs. The prophet, blessings and peace be upon him, used to visit Al-Baqi' and pray for the dead, as he was ordered to do so by Allah. Al-Baqi cemetery in history: In the initial stage, the area of the cemetery was estimated at 80 square meters. Muawiya ibn Abi Sufyan was the first to expand it. Then several expansions followed until it covered an area of approximately 180,000 square meters. It is expected that its area will reach 300,000 square meters. During the reign of King Faisal ibn Abdulaziz, a total area of 5,929 square meters was annexed to Al-Baqi&rsquo;. Two doors were also opened from the northern side in addition to the two western doors. In 1390AH, a concrete wall was erected around the cemetery, and concrete paths were built inside it. During the reign of King Fahd ibn Abdulaziz, it was expanded on the eastern and southern sides. It was also surrounded by an outer wall, 4 meters high and 1,700 meters long. A large gate, comprising a special section for funeral preparations was also constructed on the western side. After the last expansion, the area of Al-Baqi reached 180,000 meters. How to visit Al-Baqi? Visiting Al-Baqi is available to men and children. The best time to visit it is after the obligatory prayers. Visitors shall follow sharia manners for visiting graves. Signs detailing these manners are placed in Al-Baqi. Visitors shall especially avoid throwing grains to the pigeons.

Baqi' Al-Gharqad 

It is located in the prophet’s Mosque.  The library receives more than 700,000 visitors annually. Historically, it was established more than eighty years ago, and is one of the most prominent scholarly and cultural destinations in the region.

From Preserving Endowment Books to Scholarly Leadership: The Library was established at the suggestion of the Director of Endowments during the reign of King Faisal bin Abdulaziz, with the aim of preserving endowment books in the prophet&rsquo;s Mosque at the time, and to demonstrate the civilization dimension of the prophet&rsquo;s Mosque and Madinah in the Islamic world. Library Holdings: It is a public library, established in 1352 AH in the prophet&rsquo;s Mosque. The Library has an area of 744 m2 and can accommodate 300 visitors. It contains more than 172,000 books, under more than 70 categories and more than eight indexing sections for classification of books and rare books in the various branches of Arabic and Islamic scholarly fields. Serving Knowledge in Various Ways: The numerous advantages of the Library include: ● Rooms equipped to receive men, women and children to read and research. ● A section for rare manuscripts. ● An audio library. ● Technical sections for binding, preserving and sterilizing of manuscripts. ● Offering the various research techniques and reading options. ● availability of on-screen reading options. Benefiting from the Library: Visitors can benefit from the library through: ● Benefiting from the magnitude and quality of library holdings, such as books and manuscripts. ● Benefiting from the well-equipped reading rooms. ● Using the quality indexing techniques and technical devices available to facilitate the job of researchers. Library Visitors: The library is suitable for all researchers and ordinary readers, including men, women, and children, wishing to benefit from the library holdings. Getting to the Library: Men's area is located in the upper floor of the library and can be accessed through the escalator, Gate No. 10. Women's area is located in the northeastern prayer hall at Gate No. 24 and the northwest prayer hall at Gate No. 16. The library is open to visitors 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The Prophet's Mosque Library

It is the house of the Prophet, blessings and peace be upon him, in which he lived throughout his Madinah period. It witnessed many of the episodes of his life, too. The prophet, blessings and peace be upon him, also received Quranic revelations in this room. Hence, Allah honored it to become the burial place of the prophet's honorable body.

Witness to the Prophet's Life: The room was located to the east of the Prophet's Mosque. It was a modest construction, made of palm branches and mud bricks. It had a door that led to the Blessed Rawdah.&nbsp;The Prophet (ﷺ) lived in this room. He also ran his state and conveyed his message from this room. It was also the place where he worshipped his Lord. The walls of this room witnessed the kindness of the prophet to his family and companions. During his last illness, he loved to be treated in this room, rather than in any other. Inside that room, his soul departed his good body to move to the Almighty. He was washed, then his companions offered funeral prayers and buried him inside this room. Later on, his two companions, Abu Bakr and Omar, may Allah be pleased with them, were buried next to him. Historical Significance: No spot on our planet is more blessed than the spot that contained the Prophet's body (ﷺ). All rooms of mothers of the believers were demolished in the&nbsp;expansion of the Prophet&rsquo;s Mosque during the reign of Al-Walid ibn Abdulmalik, except for Aisha&rsquo;s room because it contained the blessed grave of the Prophet (ﷺ). Muslims still honor and preserve this room out of respect, loyalty and love for their prophet. They also preserve the two graves of his companions. Care for the Room Throughout History: Omar ibn Al-Khattab ordered the construction of a wall to replace the palm fronds. Omar ibn Abdulaziz rebuilt the whole room with black stones, then ordered the construction of a five-sided wall around it to differentiate it from the Kaaba. In 668AH, a wooden cabin with three doors was constructed. In 678AH Mohammad ibn Qalawun Al-Salihi, ordered a dome to be built on top of the room. The cabin was later fitted with copper and iron windows. At a later stage, the dome was painted green, a practice that still stands today. The Room in the Saudi Era: Since the reign of King Abdulaziz, the Saudi state has paid great attention to the blessed chamber and the green dome. It has preserved the old building and regularly maintains the chamber and repaints the dome. These tasks are assigned only to those whose religious observance and honesty can be trusted. How to visit the room: Entry into the blessed room is not allowed. Visitors stand in front of the grave (muwajahah) to greet the prophet (ﷺ). Alternatively, they can greet him as they pray in the Rawdah. The Prophet's Chamber

The Blessed Rawdah: it is paradise on earth, where an exhausted person finds serenity and peace. Here you can hear the moans and sense the sincere hopes of people at prayer.  

A Garden from Paradise: The Blessed Rawdah is part of the Prophet&rsquo;s Mosque. It is located at the front of the mosque and extends from the Prophet's&nbsp;house (the Blessed Chamber) to his pulpit. The Prophet says, "Between my house and my pulpit is a meadow of the Paradise." Acts of worship, such as prayer, supplication, remembrance, reciting the Qur&rsquo;an, etc. are prescribed in this blessed spot. Area: The distance between the pulpit and the blessed chamber is about 26.5 meters. The yellow copper enclosure around the&nbsp;Blessed Chamber obscures part of the Rawdah behind the chamber. So, excluding the detached part, the Rawdah from the pulpit to the copper enclosure is 22 meters long and 15 meters wide. Landmarks at the Edges of the Rawdah: 1. The Prophet's Pulpit is to the west of the Prophet's mihrab, and has been changed many times. The current pulpit dates back to 998 AH and has twelve steps. 2. The Prophet&rsquo;s Mihrab is the place where the Prophet (ﷺ) used to stand and lead the Muslims in prayer. The current structure of the mihrab dates back to 888 AH. It was renovated during the reign of King Fahd in 1404 AH. 3.&nbsp;The Columns are pillars on which the ceiling of the Rawdah rests. In the Prophet's lifetime, they were made of&nbsp;palm trunks. Each column is linked to some historical and Islamic events. 4. The Blessed Chamber is the house of the Prophet (ﷺ) where he lived with the Mother of the Believers, Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her. Saudi Care for the Blessed Rawdah: The government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has taken care of the Blessed Rawdah. Examples of the constant care are coating the pulpit with liquid gold when necessary, and placing transparent film on it to protect it from touching. It also restored and decorated the mihrab, supported it from the inside with reinforced concrete and covered it from the outside with marble. The two columns in the facade of the mihrab were also replaced with two columns of Pakistani inox marble, and the calligraphic mural board behind the mihrab was renewed with the date of renewal added. The columns in the Rawdah were covered with white marble to make them distinct from the rest of the mosque's columns. The Rawdah floor was covered with luxurious carpets. The utmost attention was paid to the Blessed Chamber and the Green Dome. Due respect is paid in maintenance works on this site, with the task entrusted to those whose religious observance and honesty can be trusted. How to Visit the Rawdah: Reservations are made through the official applications (Tawakkalna) and (Nusuk), setting the day and time of the visit. Visitors of the Rawdah shall be calm, dignified and kind to Muslims, especially the elderly because jostling them is contrary to the sanctity of the Prophet&rsquo;s Mosque, and "a Muslim is the one from whose tongue and hand Muslims are safe."

The Blessed Rawdah

It is the second holiest mosque in Islam, and the greatest mosque in Islam after the Grand Mosque of Makkah. Cognizant of the virtue of prayer in this mosque, Muslims from all over the world visit it. It is associated with the life of the Prophet (ﷺ), and the lives of his companions, both emigrants and helpers (ansar). 

Construction and Expansions: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) built his sacred mosque immediately upon arriving in Madinah as an emigrant from Makkah. He had stopped at Quba and built Quba Mosque. The Prophet's Mosque witnessed several expansions throughout history. The first expansion took place during the life of the Prophet (ﷺ) in the seventh year after hegira. Then, it was expanded during the reign of Umar bin al-Khattab in 17 AH, and during the reign of his successor, Othman bin Affan in 29 AH. Rulers and governors of Madinah under the successive Islamic states showed great interest in serving the mosque. During the reigns of King Abdulaziz bin Abdurrahman Al Saud and his successors, the kings of modern Saudi Arabia, the mosque has witnessed several renovations and expansions, which are the greatest in the history of the Prophet's Mosque. The Exalted Status of the Prophet&rsquo;s Mosque: <ul style="list-style-type: disc;"> <li style="direction: ltr; text-align: left;">A prayer in this mosque is equal in reward to 1,000 prayers elsewhere.</li> <li style="direction: ltr; text-align: left;">One of the three mosques&nbsp;to which it is permissible to travel for the exclusive purpose of worship.</li> <li style="direction: ltr; text-align: left;">It embraces many historical and monumental sites mentioned in the Prophet's biography.</li> </ul> Landmarks of the Prophet's Mosque: <ul style="list-style-type: disc;"> <li style="direction: ltr; text-align: left;">The Blessed Rawdah: It is located at the front of the Prophet's Mosque, and extends from the house of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) to his pulpit.</li> <li style="direction: ltr; text-align: left;">The Prophet's Prayer Niche: The place where the Prophet (ﷺ) used to pray. The current mihrab (prayer niche) dates back to 888 AH. It was last renovated during the reign of King Fahd in 1404 AH.</li> <li style="direction: ltr; text-align: left;">The Prophet's Pulpit: It is located to the west of the Prophet's mihrab, and it has been replaced many times. Additionally, the existing minbar (pulpit), which consists of 12 steps, dates back to 998 AH.</li> <li style="direction: ltr; text-align: left;">The Blessed Chamber: It is the house of the Prophet (ﷺ) where he lived with Aisha, (RA). In this room, the Prophet (ﷺ) and his companions, Abu Bakr and Omar, (RA), were buried. The chamber was attached to the Prophet&rsquo;s Mosque during the reign of Caliph Al-Walid bin Abdulmalik.</li> <li style="direction: ltr; text-align: left;">As-Suffah (the hospice): an enclosure behind ar-Rawdah, where poor emigrants took shelter. The Prophet left it roofed after shifting the qiblah.</li> <li style="direction: ltr; text-align: left;">The columns: These are the pillars on which the roof of the Rawdah rests. During the Prophet's lifetime, they were made of palm trunks. Each pillar is linked to specific historical events.</li> </ul> Care for the Mosque in the Saudi Era: <ul style="list-style-type: disc;"> <li style="text-align: left;">The first expansion of the Prophet's Mosque was initiated during the reign of King Abdulaziz, and several expansions, including new additions, followed during the reigns of his successors. During the reign of King Fahd, a massive expansion was implemented in the duration (1406AH-1414AH). The total area of the mosque soared to 400,327 square meters, including the courtyards. Quality facilities were built, the most important of which are the underground parking lots beneath the outer courtyards and an air conditioning station. During the reign of King Abdullah, the foundation stone of a huge new expansion was laid in 1433 AH.</li> <li style="direction: ltr; text-align: left;">The Prophet&rsquo;s Mosque receives the attention of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman, as he has affirmed his keenness to continue work on the Prophet&rsquo;s Mosque grand expansion and its related projects.</li> </ul> Etiquette of Visiting the Prophet&rsquo;s Mosque: <ul style="list-style-type: disc;"> <li style="text-align: left;">&nbsp;To perform ablution or bathe and apply perfume before entering, and to walk politely and solemnly.</li> <li style="text-align: left;">&nbsp;To enter with the right foot first, saying: "Oh Allah! The Prophet's Mosque

Moving domes and symmetrical canopies are important aspects of the appealing sights in the Prophet’s Mosque. The domes are characterized by their splendid architectural style.

The kingdom ensures that visitors of the Prophet&rsquo;s Mosque are provided with all amenities. Some aspects of the kingdom's great care are the domes of the Prophet&rsquo;s Mosque, which give a special beauty and splendor to the mosque, in addition to allowing ventilation and light. The appealing sight is perfected with the canopies that are neatly distributed in the courtyards of the Prophet&rsquo;s Mosque. In addition to having the lights fitted on them and their posts, the canopies protect visitors from direct sunlight and from rain. Domes of the Prophet's Mosque: The domes of the Prophet&rsquo;s Mosque represent a unique phenomenon in their architectural style. They give the Prophet&rsquo;s Mosque a unique character so that the domes in general and the Green Dome in particular have come to be used as a symbol of Madinah. Wherever you search for pictures of Madinah and the Prophet&rsquo;s Mosque, you will find the beautiful domes and the Green Dome remarkably present. The first dome of the Prophet&rsquo;s Mosque was built on top of the blessed Prophet&rsquo;s Chamber in 678 AH. It was painted green in 1253 AH. The Green Dome became the most widely known dome; yet the total number of moving and fixed domes of the Prophet's Mosque is 196. Moving Domes of the Prophet's Mosque: Moving domes are emblems of modernization in the Prophet&rsquo;s Mosque. There are 27 moving domes over the mosque. In addition to their unique aesthetic character, they also allow ventilation as they open and close automatically three times a day: after Fajr, Dhuhr and Isha prayers. The Giant Canopies: There are 250 giant canopies in the Prophet's Mosque courtyards. They are characterized by appealing decorations and majestic design. They open and close automatically as needed. They open early in the day to protect visitors and worshipers from the scorching sun and from rain. At night, they fold up to allow natural ventilation. These canopies are spread in the outer courtyards and in open spaces inside the mosque.

Domes and Giant Canopies of the Prophet's Mosque

Visitors of the Prophet's Mosque are dazzled with the beautiful workmanship and elaborate inscriptions of the mosque gates. These gates are made according to the highest international and technical specifications, and are further decorated with exquisite Islamic inscriptions and decorations.

:The Gates of the Prophet's Mosque in History Originally, the Prophet&rsquo;s Mosque had three doors when it was first built; namely, 1. A door in the current direction of the qibla, as the qibla at that time was towards Jerusalem. After the direction of the qibla was changed to Kaaba in Makkah, the door in the southern wall was closed and replaced with a door in the northern wall. 2. A door in the western wall. It was known as Bab Atikah. Today, it is known as Bab Al-Rahmah. 3. A door in in the eastern side. It was known as Bab Uthman. Today, it is known as Bab Jibreel. After implementing Omar ibn Al-Khattab's expansion of the Prophet's Mosque, the number of doors increased to six. :The Gates of the Prophet's Mosque at Present The doors of the Prophet&rsquo;s Mosque increased in line with the expansions it witnessed in the various ages. The names of the main doors were preserved, however. Currently, the mosque has 86 gates, all of which are given clear numbers that are displayed next to each gate. Most of the gates are designed to receive large numbers of people.

Gates of the Prophet's Mosque

The Prophet's Mosque is surrounded by courtyards on all sides. Visitors first arrive at these outer areas before they enter the mosque proper. 

Spaces Designed as Prayer Grounds: The outer courtyards of the Prophet&rsquo;s Mosque are perfectly designed as places for prayer and sitting. They are covered with canopies that open and close automatically, and are equipped with public facilities that are friendly to all visitors, including the elderly and people with special needs. The Largest Expansion of the Courtyards: The Prophet's Mosque witnessed one of the largest expansions during the reign of King Fahd, in which the total area of the courtyards increased to 235,000 square meters. The courtyards are covered with marble and granite, and are designed as prayer grounds. They can accommodate up to 450,000 worshippers.

It is the first mosque in Islam. The Prophet (ﷺ) with his own blessed hands, laid the foundation stone of the mosque, which was built by the emigrants and the helpers (ansar). Allah extolled this mosque and mentioned its virtues in the everlasting Qur'an, "A mosque founded on righteousness from the first day is more worthy for you to stand in." (9:108)

The Greatest Mosque After the Three Mosques: Quba Mosque is the greatest mosque in Islam after the three mosques. It was built in the quarter of Bani Amr bin Awf, a subtribe of the helpers&nbsp;(ansar). Today, it is connected to the Prophet&rsquo;s Mosque by a 3 km long walking trail. Residents and visitors of Madinah come to pray in this mosque, in an&nbsp;act that demonstrates following the Sunnah of the Prophet (ﷺ) and to seek reward. Virtues of Quba Mosque:&nbsp; Quba Mosque is highly venerated by Muslims: <ul style="list-style-type: disc;"> <li style="text-align: left;">"A mosque founded on righteousness from the first day is more worthy for you to stand in. Within it are men who love to purify themselves; and Allah loves those who purify themselves." (Qur'an 9:108)</li> <li style="text-align: left;">The Prophet (ﷺ) used to visit the mosque every Saturday, riding or on foot, to pray there.</li> <li style="text-align: left;">Underscoring the virtues of going to the mosque and praying in it, he said, "Whoever purifies himself in his home, goes to Quba Mosque, and prays there, he will have the reward of &lsquo;Umrah."</li> </ul> Expansions and Care Throughout History: Othman bin Affan renewed and expanded the mosque during his reign. It was also renewed by Omar bin Abdulaziz during his tenure as governor of Madinah. The mosque continued to receive&nbsp;care throughout Islamic history. The mosque received great care during the prosperous Saudi era. King Fahd bin Abdulaziz ordered it rebuilt, preserving the same old design. The mosque area was expanded to several times its original area. Four minarets and large domes were also built. Today, the largest expansion of King Salman Project to expand Quba Mosque and develop its surroundings is underway. Accommodation is projected at 66,000 worshipers, while preserving the architectural design and historical features to enrich the emotional experience of local and international visitors. Opening Times: The mosque is open around the clock, and receives worshipers and visitors at any time of the day or night.

Quba Mosque

It is a wide walkway and path designed for accommodating commercial, cultural, social and sporting events at the same time. It is also a place where you can enjoy Madinah atmosphere and experiences. Stores, restaurants, Madinah food stalls, and roadside seats are available. You can also indulge in different activities such as vehicle riding and bike cycling. Historical Dimension: Quba Walking Trail is one of the projects of the area humanization program implemented by Madinah Development Authority. Its historical value derives from the fact that the prophet, blessings and peace be upon him, took this path in his visits to Quba Mosque. The prophet used to go to Quba Mosque every Saturday, on foot or riding. Al-Madinah Region Development Authority chose this walkway which has become today a trail for walking and excursion, connecting the prophet&rsquo;s Mosque and Quba Mosque. It is also a tourist facility with various shopping options and comprises aesthetic and recreational facilities. Description: The trail features safe pedestrian paths, 3 km long and 200 m wide. Dense agricultural facilities that increase the visual appeal of the site run along the path. The place is also characterized by the harmony of stores deeply rooted in the traditions of the area. Atmosphere: The place is suitable for all members of society. It is an integrated tourist facility for families and individuals of both genders and all age groups. Visitors can have great time through the following: ● Practicing sports and benefiting from the pedestrian trails ● Holding social meetings and benefiting from the fully integrated tourist options there. ● Shopping in a variety of stores on site. ● Going to Quba Mosque using a beautiful, organized, and appropriate trail that serves as a distinctive destination for visitors of the area. Getting to the Trail: The walkway connects the prophet's Mosque and Quba Mosque, south of Madinah.

Quba Walking Trail 

It is one of the top tourist attractions in Madinah due to its strategic location in the middle of the old city and its architectural style that is symmetrical with the surrounding area and urban heritage.

Bringing Past and Present Together: The square is located at a short distance from the eastern the south of the Prophet&rsquo;s Mosque. The Square is intersected with Quba Walking Trail, which extends for 3 km from the Prophet's Mosque to Quba Mosque. It meets the latest technical specifications and is inclusive and accessible. It overlooks a number of historical landmarks. Many shopping centers and event venues, and other services are also available. A Distinct Tourist Attraction: Quba Square is part of the project of Madinah Humanization Program launched by the Chairman of the Madinah Region Development Authority with the aim of improving and developing vital sites in Madinah, launching attractive tourist destinations, and creating human- and eco-friendly sites at a level parallel to the ones in the Middle East and the globe. Quba Square is the center and starting point of this walking trail. In 2018, it won the Best Tourist Attraction Award, a category of the Saudi Excellence in Tourism Awards. Significance of Quba Square: &bull; It is of a historical and religious value, as the Prophet, blessings and peace be upon him, used to go to Quba Mosque every Saturday, either on foot or riding, and pray two rak'ahs there. It is reported that praying in Quba Mosque is equivalent to &lsquo;Umrah in reward. &bull; It has a strategic location in the midst of the old city and its architectural style is in harmony with its surroundings and with Madinah heritage. &bull; It overlooks a number of historical sites, including: Al-Ghamamah Mosque, Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq Mosque, Omar ibn Al-Khattab Mosque, Ali ibn Abi Talib Mosque, and the International Exhibition and Museum of the Biography of the Prophet's Biography and Islamic Civilization. &bull; There are many shopping centers and service facilities. The site hosts entertainment events, too. Quba Square Facilities: Quba Square hosts a variety of events, activities, and daily entertainment programs. More than 50 diverse stores, restaurants, and cafes provide hospitality services and unique experiences to visitors. Visiting hours: Various services are available at Quba Square. It is also designed to ensure having a great time throughout the day.

The Square is intersected with Quba Walking Trail, which extends for 3 km from the Prophet's Mosque to Quba Mosque. It meets the latest technical specifications and is inclusive and accessible. A Distinct Tourist Attraction: Quba Square is part of the project of Madinah Humanization Program launched by the Chairman of the Madinah Region Development Authority with the aim of improving and developing vital sites in Madinah, launching attractive tourist destinations, and creating human- and eco-friendly sites at a level parallel to the ones in the Middle East and the globe. The castle consists of 3 floors that are constructed of stone and plastered-plated. It has one door, and the three floors have small openings used for observation and shooting.

Qiba Castle

Today, it is 200 meters away from the courtyards of the Prophet’s Mosque. It was one of the Prophet's prayer grounds, to which he would go out to lead people in Eid and rain-invoking prayers. It embraces memories of the Prophet's life and the fragrant civilizational history of Muslims.

&nbsp; Al-Musalla refers to the square located on the Prophet's Mosque's southwest side. The previous of Madinah Suq was also known as Al-Manakhah. In this square, the Prophet (PBUH) performed Eid Al-Fitr, Eid Al-Adha, and the prayer for rain (ṣalāt al-istisqa). In addition, the prophet (PBUH) also performed the Absentee funeral prayer for Najashi, King of Abyssinia. &nbsp; Al-Musalla Mosque (Al-Ghamamah) is the last place where the Prophet (PBUH) performed Eid prayer before he passed away. Al-Musalla Mosque was constructed in the Umayyad era when Omar bin Abdulaziz ruled Madinah (87-93 AH). Afterward, the Mosque underwent several renovations, including the renovation executed by Izz Ad-Din, Sheikh of the Holy Mosque of Makkah, during Sultan Hassan bin Mohammad bin Qalawun As-Salihi era (748-762 AH). Also, Prince Burdik renovated it in 861 AH. The current structure of the Mosque dates back to the 13th century AH. During the Saudi era, the Mosque received increased care and maintained its historical architectural style. It was also repaired and maintained during the reigns of King Saud bin Abdulaziz Al Saud in 1373 AH, King Fahd bin Abdulaziz in 1411 AH, and King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz in 1434 AH. The Mosque was also rehabilitated during the reign of King Salman bin Abdulaziz. Eid and Rain-Invoking Prayer Ground: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to offer Eid and rain-invoking prayers outside the Prophet&rsquo;s Mosque in different places in the desert. Towards the end of his life, he settled on praying in this place, so he mostly offered Eid and rain-invoking prayers on the site of this mosque. There was neither a structure nor a pulpit at the time. The place was part of the uninhabited desert outside Madinah. Today, the mosque has become adjacent to the Prophet's Mosque courtyards, following the great Saudi expansion works. Names of the Mosque: It was known as Al-Musalla Mosque; i.e., the place of performing Eid and rain-invoking prayers. Recently, it has become known as Al-Ghamamah Mosque because the Prophet used to offer rain-invoking prayer there. It is reported that a cloud shaded the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) from the sun in this place while he was invoking for rain.&nbsp; Significance of the Mosque: This site was one of the most important prayer grounds where the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) prayed. It is also a site where Muslims used to gather for Eid and rain-invoking prayers. One of the merits of this spot is that it is the place where the Messenger of Allah offered funeral prayer in absentia for the Negus, King of Abyssinia, who believed in the Messenger of Allah, welcomed and protected the Muslims who emigrated to his dominions. The Prophet informed the companions of the death of the Negus immediately after he died and ordered them to ask forgiveness for him. Moreover, he ordered them to gather at the prayer ground, where he lined them up in rows and then led them in the funeral prayer. History: The mosque was built by Omar ibn Abdulaziz, may Allah have mercy on him, when he was governor of Medina in the first century AH. In the presence of the major successors of the companions, Omar ibn Abdulaziz traced the Prophet's prayer grounds and built mosques on those sites to delineate their locations. &nbsp; The building was renewed and repaired several times, the largest of which was the comprehensive improvement of the structure by the Saudi government. The mosque was restored according to the highest standards to ensure preserving its unique architectural design. What Does the Mosque Look Like Today? The mosque consists of an entrance, 4m wide and 26m long. It is topped by 5 domes. The prayer hall is 15m wide and 30m long. A cylindrical minaret is erected in one of the corners. Above the door is a green signboard, with the phrase "Al-Ghamamah Mosque" inscribed in golden thuluth script. The exterior structure of the mosque consists of black basalt stones, characteristic of the lava plains around Madinah. The interior walls and the exterior and interior dome walls are painted with white lime. The original black color of the stones was preserved in the abutments and arches, giving a majestic view of the contrast of the two&nbsp;colors derived from the natural surrounding areas. Visiting Al-Ghamamah Mosque: Today, congregational obligatory prayers are offered in Al-Ghamamah Mosque. It is a historical landmark that attracts visitors to Madinah. Al-Ghamamah Mosque

It is a historical mosque built on a site where the Prophet (ﷺ) prayed. Muslims visit it today to see its unique architectural style, and recall the relevant events in the life of the Prophet and his companions.

It was given this name because it is located in the village of Bani Anif, a Bali people who lived between Bani Amr bin Awf in Quba and Al-Osbah. This mosque is on the right side of the Hijra Route leading to Madinah, southwest of Quba Mosque. The mosque&rsquo;s current structure is an unroofed stone structure; it has been restored like other historical mosques. The mosque&rsquo;s footprint was visible on high ground, and about two meters of its walls remained before renovation. It was built of basalt stone, witha trace of the Mihrab visible in it, and its entrance was built on the north side. Historical Significance:&nbsp; The mosque is close to Quba Mosque to the southwest. Bani Unaif Mosque was built by Banu Unaif in one of their forts on the road leading to Madinah from the south, opposite to Al-Qaim Farm. A subtribe of Bali, Banu Unaif were the allies of Bani Amr ibn Awf, a subtribe of Aws. They are also believed to be of the descendants of Amaleeq, who had settled in Yathrib before the advent of Aws and Khazraj. The Prophet (ﷺ) went to Bani Unaif to visit Talha ibn Al-Bara&rsquo; during his illness. The Prophet prayed in their quarters, and they honored the spot where he prayed and used to spray it with water. Ultimately, they built a mosque there that was named after them. &nbsp; An Emblem of the Past: There was initially no structure on the site where the Prophet (ﷺ) prayed. Later on, the mosque was built using black basalt stones and mud bricks. With the passage of time, only a few traces of the structure remained. During the reign of King Salman ibn Abdulaziz, it was restored as part of the program of preservation of historical mosques. The traditional design of the site was preserved. It has an open ceiling. Spaced timber beams are installed to support the structure and allow ventilation. Lanterns hang from these timber beams. The floor is covered with white marble. Shrubs and palm trees are grown in the outer stone-tile courtyard, along the dark basalt rocks of the mosque wall. Tips for Visitors: The mosque receives visitors 24 hours a day. It is best to visit during the daytime to see its beautiful architectural motifs clearly.

Bani Unaif mosque

In this place, blessings overflowed and multiplied for the people of Madinah by virtue of the supplication of the Prophet (ﷺ). In this mosque, the Prophet (ﷺ) declared Madinah as a sanctuary, just as Ibrahim declared Makkah a sanctuary.

An Overview: Al Suqya Mosque was built on the site where the Prophet Muhammed (Peace be Upon Him) prayed and supplicated Allah while marching to Badr and drank from Al Suqya well next to it. According to historical sources, there are nearly ten wells near the mosque. It was narrated that the Prophet (peace be upon him) paraded the Muslim army while heading to Badr in Al Suqya, Al-Harra, which is at the western edge of Al-Harra of Madinah. He prayed there and supplicated for the people of Madinah. According to the sources, Omar bin Abdulaziz, may Allah be pleased with him, built this mosque on the site where the Prophet (peace be upon him) prayed.Its Virtues: <ul style="list-style-type: disc;"> <li style="text-align: left;">On the site of the mosque, the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) invoked blessings for the people of Madinah that Allah would bless them in whatever they buy and sell, and that He would bring them sustenance from everywhere.</li> <li style="text-align: left;">In this place, the Prophet (ﷺ) declared Madinah a sanctuary, just as Ibrahim declared Makkah a sanctuary.</li> <li style="text-align: left;">In this place, the Caliph Omar bin Al-Khattab (RA) and the Muslims requested Al-Abbas bin Abd Al-Muttalib, the uncle of the Prophet (ﷺ) to pray when Madinah was hit with drought and the rain was delayed. Al-Suqya Mosque

A mosque honored by the Prophet (ﷺ) performing prayer in it, and praying to his Lord for three things, of which two were granted.

An Overview: Al-Ijabah Mosque is a small Prophetic prayer ground to the north of the Prophet&rsquo;s Mosque. It was first built by Banu Muawiyah during the time of the Prophet (ﷺ). Its Story: The mosque was called &ldquo;Al-Ijabah&rdquo; (Answer) due to an incident associated with the Prophet (ﷺ). It was narrated that the Prophet (ﷺ) came one day from Aliya area in Madinah until he reached the Mosque of Banu Muawiyah. He entered the mosque and performed two rak&rsquo;ahs together with some of his companions (RA). After a long supplication of his Lord, he turned to his companions and said: &ldquo;I asked my Lord three things, and He has granted me two, but has withheld one. I asked Him that my ummah not be destroyed by drought, and He granted me that. I begged him that my ummah may not be destroyed by drowning (deluge) and He granted me that. Finally, I begged Him not to cause division among them, but He didn&rsquo;t grant me that.&rdquo; Subsequently, the mosque became known as Al-Ijabah Mosque. Al-Ijabah Mosque

It is a Prophetic prayer ground blessed with the virtue of precedence. It is the place where the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) performed the first Friday prayer in Madinah after his emigration from Makkah. It is about 2,300 meters away from the Prophet’s Mosque.

An Overview: When the&nbsp; Prophet (ﷺ) emigrated from Makkah, he stayed for a few days in Quba, then he proceeded to Madinah. It was the time for Jumah (Friday) prayer when he was in a valley close to his place of stay in Quba. Therefore, the Prophet (ﷺ) delivered a sermon and performed Jumah prayer together with those who were with him. It was the first Friday prayer performed by the Prophet (ﷺ) after his emigration to Madinah. The place was later called al- Jumah Mosque. During tenure of Omar bin Abdulaziz as governor of Madinah, he built a mosque in this place, which is approximately 600 meters away from Quba Mosque, and about 2,300 meters away from the Prophet&rsquo;s Mosque. Al-Jumah Mosque

It is one of the most important historical landmarks of Madinah. On their way to the Sacred Mosque of Makkah, pilgrims from or passing through Madinah stop at this mosque. Here they give up all worldly appearances and put on Ihram garments in their journey of faith, hoping only for Allah's mercy and reward in the Hereafter.

Historical Significance: The Prophet (ﷺ) used to stop under a tree in Dhul Hulaifah to enter into ihram for Hajj and &lsquo;Umrah. He said: &ldquo;Someone came to me tonight from my Lord while I was in Al-Aqiq (valley), and said to me, "Offer prayer in this blessed valley,"&rdquo; which is the miqat of the people of Madinah and those who go past it. It is the farthest miqat from Makkah. Perhaps the wisdom behind this is that the people of Madinah will not have to spend a long time in which they are neither in a sanctuary nor in the state of Ihram; hence, their reward will be maximized. Phases and Saudi care:&nbsp; Built with stones in the reign of Omar ibn Abdulaziz, the mosque was renewed in various eras. It was too small to meet the needs of Hajj and &lsquo;Umrah pilgrims. King Faisal ibn Abdulaziz ordered the renewal and expansion of the mosque. The major expansion took place during the reign of King Fahd ibn Abdulaziz, turning it into a magnificently architectural edifice in its design, area, facilities, and services. Magnificent Blessed Place:&nbsp; The mosque is located in Dhul Hulaifah, southwest of Madinah, on the western side of al-Aqiq Valley, 14 km away from the Prophet&rsquo;s Mosque. From this place, Hajj and &lsquo;Umrah pilgrims start the talbiyah: "At Your service, O Allah, at Your service. You have no partner. All praise, grace and sovereignty belong to You. You have no partner."&nbsp; The mosque is square in shape with a unique design. It has a spiral minaret, 62 meters tall, and arches dovetailed into domes 16 meters high from the ground. The mosque area, including its facilities, is 178,000 square meters. It includes two blocs of buildings separated by a 1,000 m2 yard. There are more than 500 toilets, and next to them are places of Ihram, washbasins for ablution and washing, parking lots, and a market that meets pilgrims' needs. There are also green spaces abounding with palm and other trees.

Al-Miqat Mosque

The Seven Mosques are a destination for visitors of Madinah. They are a group of modest mosques, built near the site of the Battle of the Trench to commemorate this memory. 

A Brief Description: The Seven Mosques were built at the foot of Sila' Mount, where Muslims defended Madinah valiantly during a battle called the Battle of the Trench (the Battle of the Confederates). The neighborhood is now called "Al-Fateh neighborhood". Other names of the place familiar to the people are Al-Seeh, The Trench, and Sila' Mount. Their History: These mosques were built after the era of the Prophet (ﷺ) and his companions, in commemoration of this memory and the companions who had a prominent role in the event. So, the mosques were named after them. They were built at different times, renovated in the succeeding centuries, and restored in the current era. The Number of the Mosques: These mosques were known to tourists as the "Seven Mosques," which is a somewhat modern designation. Prior to the fourteenth century, they were called "Al-Fateh Mosques," and were only six. Later, when al-Qiblatain Mosque was added to the tourist visit plan of these mosques due to its relative proximity to them, the mosques came to be known as the "Seven Mosques". However, instead of al- Qiblatain Mosque, some added al-Raya Mosque, located on Thubab Mountain because it is closer to the mosques than al-Qiblatain Mosque, and because it is&nbsp;directly related to the events of the Battle of the Trench. Some others add Bani Haram Mosque instead. Nevertheless, the Battle of the Trench unquestionably occured in this area which people visit to remember those events experienced by the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), and his honorable companions, demonstrated the sincerity of their steadfastness and their belief in their Lord, and witnessed the glad tidings conveyed by the Prophet (ﷺ) to his ummah of the spread of Islam beyond the Arabian Peninsula. The Seven Mosques at Present: Currently, there are only five mosques on the site of the Battle of the Trench since Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq Mosque was demolished and its debris was removed. The mosques were named by the individuals who built them. The remaining mosques are: Al-Fateh Mosque: Reportedly, Al-Fateh Mosque was built in the place where the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), on the day of the Battle of the Trench, prayed to his Lord to grant victory to the Muslims. The location is on a hillock on the western slope of Mount Sila'. It was narrated that "The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) supplicated his Lord in this mosque three times: on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. His prayer was answered between the two prayers on Wednesday, so the good tidings were recognized on his face." The current building was constructed of basalt and limestone. It consists of a hall, extending from east to west for about 8.50 meters. It is about 3.50 meters wide, and 4.50 meters high. In the middle of the Qibla wall and on the axis of the building,&nbsp;a small Mihrab was erected. The northern wall of the hall overlooks a small walled space measuring 8.50 meters from east to west and is 6.50 meters wide. This mosque is the largest of the seven mosques. Salman Al-Farisi Mosque: Salman Al-Farisi (RA) is the companion who advised the Prophet (ﷺ) to dig the trench, after which the battle was named, in order to protect Madinah from the attacks of the enemies.&nbsp; The mosque consists of a rectangular hallway and a ceiling in the form of a circular vault. The walls and ceiling of the building are made of basalt stone. Its length from north to south is about 7 meters and from east to west about 8.50 meters. Ali ibn Abi Talib Mosque: It is located on a high, rectangular hillock, and consists of a rectangular hall whose walls are made of basalt stone. The mosque is 8.5 meters long and 6.5 meters wide. Omar Al-Farouq Mosque: The mosque was built in the form of a rectangular hall, and has a wide, open space. It is eight degrees above the ground, and its construction method is identical with that of Al-Fateh Mosque. Saad ibn Moadh Mosque, currently called Fatima Al-Zahra Mosque: The mosque is comprised of a rectangular plot surrounded by a wall about two meters high. The mosque is unroofed, and its length from east to west is 2.6 meters, from south to north, 35.3 meters, and its internal area is 2.21 square meters. The Seven Mosques

It is a prophetic prayer ground, 150 meters away from the courtyards of the Prophet’s Mosque. The prophet (ﷺ) performed Eid prayer on this site, a practice followed by his first successor, Abu Bakr As-Siddiq, after whom the mosque was named later.

It is one of the mosques in the Al-Musalla area. It is so named because, during his caliphate, Abu Bakr As-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) performed Eid prayer in the area where the Mosque now stands, following the Prophet, PBUH, tradition. The Mosque was likely built for the first time during the Umayyad era when Omar bin Abdulaziz ruled Madinah (87-93 AH). The mosque's current structure dates back to the 13th century AH. The historical architectural style of the Mosque was preserved during the Saudi era. The Mosque was regularly maintained and restored. It was also repaired during the reigns of King Fahd bin Abdulaziz in 1411 AH and King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz in 1434 AH. During the reign of King Salman bin Abdulaziz, the mosque was also maintained as part of Madinah's mosques and historic sites care project. A Place Where the Prophet and his Successor Prayed: It was one of the prayer grounds where the Prophet used to offer Eid prayer. After expansion works, a distance of only 145 meters separates&nbsp;it from the Prophet&rsquo;s Mosque courtyard. It is about 455 meters away from the Prophet&rsquo;s Mosque. It is only 50 meters away from Al-Ghamamah Mosque. The area of the mosque&nbsp;is 78 square meters. The name of the Mosque derives from the fact that Abu Bakr As-Siddiq, may Allah be pleased with him, used to perform Eid prayer there during his caliphate. Origin of the Name: It is established that the Prophet (ﷺ) used Al-Manakhah area as a place to offer Eid and rain-invoking prayers. He prayed in different parts of this place. When Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq, may Allah be pleased with him, became caliph, he offered Eid prayer in one of the places where the Prophet had prayed. That part of Al-Manakhah was named after Abu Bakr. Later, the mosque was built.&nbsp; History: This mosque received great attention from caliphs and governors, and underwent many repairs and restorations, the last of which was in 1254AH. During the Saudi era, it was restored more than once, while maintaining the unique architectural style. During the reign of King Salman ibn Abdulaziz, it received more attention; it was listed in the Islamic Sites Development and Rehabilitation Project. Architectural Style:&nbsp; The mosque has a large dome. The eastern wall is built with black stones. The contrast of black and white colors in the exterior coating of the mosque endows it with a symmetrical and aesthetic look, which is similar to that of Al-Ghamamah Mosque. The symmetrical look of the two close mosques creates a beautiful panoramic view of the square.&nbsp; Visiting the Mosque: &nbsp; Visitors can view the mosque from the outside.&nbsp;

Abu Bakr As-Siddiq Mosque

It is One of the Prophet's Eid prayer grounds, named after Ali ibn Abi Talib, may Allah be pleased with him, the caliph of the Muslims and son-in-law of the Prophet, blessings and peace be upon him. It still stands today as an eternal prophetic hallmark, testifying to the companions' strict adherence to the Prophet's legacy.   

According to historical sources, the Mosque's area is one of the places where the Prophet (PBUH) prayed in Al-Musalla square. It was named after Ali Ibn Abu Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) because he led Eid Al-Adha prayers in the same location in 35 AH, during the caliphate of Othman Ibn Affan (may Allah be pleased with him). The mosque was likely constructed when Omar bin Abdulaziz ruled Madinah during the Umayyad era (87-93 AH). In 881 AH, Zain Ad-Din Al-Mansouri, the Emir of Madinah, rebuilt it after its destruction. The current structure of the Mosque dates back to the reign of King Fahd bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques. In 1411 AH, the mosque was reconstructed and expanded, also restored and maintained during the reign of King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz in 1434 AH. Finally, it underwent maintenance during the reign of King Salman bin Abdulaziz as part of Madinah's mosques and historic sites care project. From the Prophet's Prayer to Ali's Prayer: The mosque is built on the site of one of the Prophet's prayer grounds in Al-Manakhah area, where the Prophet (ﷺ) used to lead Muslims in Eid and rain-invoking prayers. Ali ibn Abi Talib, may Allah be pleased with him, used to lead the Muslims in Eid prayers in this spot during his reign.&nbsp; Ali's Eid Prayer Ground:&nbsp; The Prophet (ﷺ) made Al-Manakhah area a ground for offering Eid and rain-invoking prayers, praying in several spots of the place. When Ali became caliph, he used to lead Eid prayers in one of those spots in which the Prophet used to pray within Al-Manakhah area. Later on, a mosque bearing Ali's name was built on this site.&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;The mosque is located to the north of Al-Ghamamah Mosque. It is 290 meters away from the building of the second Saudi expansion of the Prophet&rsquo;s Mosque. It is&nbsp;next to Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq Mosque, the two mosques being approximately 100 meters apart. History: The mosque was built by Omar ibn Abdulaziz, may Allah have mercy on him, during his tenure as governor of Madinah (87-93AH). Omar identified the prophetic prayer grounds in Madinah, and built mosques on their sites before they were forgotten. The mosque received much attention from the governors of Madinah in various eras, and was restored several times. The kings of the Saudi State played a leading role in preserving the mosque. During the reign of King Salman ibn Abdulaziz, the mosque received more attention as it was listed in the Historical Islamic Sites Development and Rehabilitation Project. Architectural Design: The three historical mosques in Al-Manakhah Square share the same style. Ali ibn Abi Talib Mosque is rectangular in shape. It is 31 meters long, extending from east to west, and is 22 meters wide. It consists of one hall, covered with seven domes, the highest of which is the one on top of the mihrab. From the northern side, it opens up to an unroofed rectangular courtyard. The mosque minaret is on the eastern side.

Ali bin Abi Talib Mosque

When the Prophet (ﷺ) received the good tidings that whoever invokes blessings upon him will be blessed by Allah in return, he prostrated in gratitude for this good news. So, at this place of prostration was established the mosque.

An Overview: Madinah embraced the Prophet (ﷺ) and his honorable companions, and is associated with their lives. So, it abounds in historical Islamic landmarks, including the Sajdah Mosque, which witnessed divine glad tidings and a prophetic prostration. Its Story: The story of this mosque is reported by the companion Abd Al-Rahman bin Awf: "The Prophet (ﷺ) went out until he entered among some orchard of palm trees and prostrated himself so long that I was afraid that he had passed away. When he raised his head, I mentioned that to him, and he said: "Gabriel, peace be upon him, said to me: &ldquo;Shall I not bring you good tidings? Indeed, Allah, The Almighty, says to you: &ldquo;Whoever invokes one blessing on you, I will bless him, and whoever greets you, I will greet him."" So, I prostrated to Allah in gratitude.&rdquo; Therefore, a mosque was built in the place where the Prophet (ﷺ) prostrated. Its Significance: This mosque is historically important, as it bears Prophetic traces and has been preserved to this day. It witnessed Gabriel's descent to the Prophet (ﷺ), and the Prophet's prostration. The Mosque During the Saudi Era: Due to its historical importance, the mosque was architecturally renewed during the Saudi era. In 1399 AH, the mosque was rebuilt, and its total area was expanded to 182.3 square meters. A minaret was erected in its northwestern corner. Its Location: Today, the mosque is approximately 800 meters to the north of the Prophet&rsquo;s Mosque. Visiting Times: The mosque is open for visits and prayer during prayer times.

Al-Sajdah Mosque

It is one of the most important historical mosques in Madinah. In this mosque, Allah honored the Prophet (ﷺ) and fulfilled his wish by shifting the qiblah direction from Jerusalem to the Kaaba: (We will surely turn you to a qiblah with which you will be pleased) [Qur'an 2:144].

Masjid Al-Qiblatain was named because it was where the Prophet prayed when new Quranic revelations from Allah instructed Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) to change the qibla from Bayt al-Muqaddas to Al Kaaba Al Musharraf: {We have certainly seen the turning of your face, [O Muhammad], toward the heaven, and We will surely turn you to a qiblah with which you will be pleased. So, turn your face toward Al-Masjid Al-Haram} [Al-Baqarah:144]. Previously, the Prophet (PBUH) prayed in the direction of Bayt al-Muqaddas for nine months, and it was said ten months after his Hijra to Medina. This mosque was built during the Prophet (PBUH) era, and several renovations were done until it was rebuilt, expanded, and adapted during the era of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Fahd bin Abdul Aziz, may God have mercy on him, in 1408 AH / 1987 CE. Historical Significance: The mosque is located northwest of Madinah, near Al-Aqiq Valley. It was known as Bani Salima Mosque because it is located in their quarters. Bani Salima is a subtribe of the helpers. (ansar). Later it was renamed the Qiblatain Mosque because the Prophet&nbsp;(ﷺ) came to Bani Salima neighborhood and led the local residents in prayer. While he was leading his companions in zuhr prayer, he received revelation commanding him to turn towards the Kaaba. In the first two rak'as, he was facing Jerusalem, and in the last two rak'as he turned towards the Kabbah. Hence, this mosque becomes a monument that bears witness to one of the most important events in the history of Islam. Development and Saudi Care for the Mosque: The mosque was built with mud bricks, palm fronds, and palm trunks. It was renewed by Omar ibn Abdulaziz in 87 AH, and was repaired several times afterwards, the last of which in 950 AH. Then it was neglected until its restoration by King Abdulaziz Al Saud. During the reign of King Abdulaziz, it was renewed and a minaret and a wall were built. After this expansion, it had an area of 425 square meters. Then, King Fahd ibn Abdulaziz ordered it to be demolished, rebuilt and expanded. So, the mosque was expanded to 3,920 square meters and re-planned. During the reign of King Salman ibn Abdulaziz, Al Madinah Region Development Authority has implemented a huge project to improve the mosque, including increasing its capacity to accommodate a larger number of worshipers and visitors, facilitating access to visitors, ensuring their safety, establishing a cultural center, an exhibition building and a shopping center, creating more green spaces and putting up informative and interactive sings to highlight the mosque history. Architectural Style: The mosque is characterized by its bright white color and Islamic architectural design. It has two domes and two minarets. A series of arches were erected in the prayer hall which can accommodate 2,000 worshippers. A 400&nbsp; Square meters&nbsp; arcade serves as women's prayer area. The decorative copper chandeliers add a traditional, aesthetic touch. Al-Qiblatain Mosque

It is an Eid and rain-invoking prayer ground of the second caliph, Omar ibn Al-Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him.

This mosque is named after Omar Ibn Al-Khattab, the Emir of the Believers (may Allah be pleased with him.) According to historical sources, this mosque was constructed after 850 AH. It is also reported that the mosque was built on the site where the Prophet (PBUH) performed Eid prayer; Omar Ibn Al-Khattab also prayed there, which led to the Mosque being named after him. The current structure of the mosque dates back to the 13th century AH. During the reign of King Fahd bin Abdulaziz al-Saud, the Mosque was renovated in 1411 AH. During the reign of King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, it was also renovated and maintained in 1434 AH. Finally, during the reign of King Salman bin Abdulaziz, the Mosque underwent maintenance as part of Madinah's mosques and historic sites care project. A Landmark Traced Back to the Prophet: The mosque is named after the second rightly guided caliph, Omar ibn Al-Khattab. It is one of the historical mosques in Al-Manakhah, which the Prophet, peace be upon him, used as a prayer ground for performing Eid and rain-invoking prayers. It is a historical landmark that attracts&nbsp;visitors. It is about 133 meters from the Prophet's Mosque Courtyard and 133 meters from Al-Ghamamah Mosque. Omar's Eid Prayer Ground:&nbsp; Al-Manakhah was an empty space. So, the Prophet (ﷺ) used to offer Eid and rain-invoking prayer in various spots of this place. When Omar ibn Al-Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him, became caliph, he made one of those spots an Eid prayer ground, following the example of the Prophet (ﷺ). This specific spot was named after Omar. When mosques were built on historical sites during the Umayyad and subsequent eras, a mosque was built on that spot, and was named after Omar, may Allah be pleased with him. History: This mosque received great attention from the governors of Madinah and underwent many repairs and restorations, the last of which was in 1266AH. In the Saudi era, it has been restored more than once, while preserving its architectural style. During the reign of King Salman ibn Abdulaziz, it received more attention as it was listed in the Historical Islamic Sites Development and Rehabilitation Project. Architecture and Design: The Mosque consists of an open entrance and a prayer hall. The unroofed entrance is about 10 meters long, and is as wide&nbsp;as the mosque. The prayer hall is square in shape, built of basalt stones. From the inside, it has a white coating and is painted with lime. A large dome covers the whole mosque proper. At the top of the interior cavity, there are color decorations with a strip of Quranic verses in the middle. The dome is about 12 meters high. The mihrab is in the middle of the southern wall. The mosque&nbsp;has no pulpit. The mosque has a 15-meter-long minaret, topped by a balcony. The design of the outer surface of the dome is similar to that of Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq Mosque. Visiting Times: Visitors can view the mosque from the outside.&nbsp;

Omar ibn Al-Khattab Mosque

It is a historical tourist destination and one of the most important agricultural zones that simulate the nature and heritage of the area. It is characterized by intensive agricultural production and abundance of palm trees.

Mukhairiq Farms: A feature of Madinah is the plenty of agricultural lands densely covered with palm trees. Al-Alia farms in particular enjoy a special historical and social status. These farms were offered as an endowment by companion Mukhairiq to the prophet, blessings and peace be upon him. Before the Battle of Uhud, this companion had reverted to Islam and donated all his property as endowments. Later, he fought got martyred in the said battle. Dates Production and Excursion Site: Aliat Al-Madina Farms comprise a group of dense palm tree farms. At the nearest point, the farms are one km away from the prophet&rsquo;s Mosque. They are rich in palm trees and are known for their plentiful yield. They are also a beautiful landscape, designed for relaxation, excursion, and benefiting from palm crops. The site consists of a series of connected farms. There are areas with dense palm and other trees, and places for selling dates, as well as areas allocated for sitting and walking in the midst of trees and fields. Atmosphere: The place is suitable for people from all walks of life. It is a beautiful place that families and individuals of all ages and genders can visit. The farms have much to offer such as: ● The beautiful, natural and distinctive green landscapes, suitable for excursions and walking through palm trees and natural streams. ● The plentiful agricultural production of dates. Palm trees are so appealing to wee. Furthermore, these farms produce one the finest types of dates in the area. ● Walking and enjoying the distinctively beautiful scenery. ● The place is one of the most important sites that help understand the social life of the region and its historical Islamic dimension. It is closely linked to the social aspect in the region, its Islamic identity and the details of the prophet's life that can be traced to these places and landmarks. Getting to the Farms: The farms are located in Al-Alia neighborhood in Ali ibn Abi Talib Road, Prince Abdulmajeed ibn Abdulaziz Intersection.

Aliat Al-Madinah Farms

A Prophetic well from the waters of which the Messenger of Allah, blessings and peace be upon him, performed ablution and drank. It is reported that the Messenger of Allah requested that his body be washed with water from this well after his passing.

Ghars Well is one of the historical sites linked to the biography of the Prophet Muhammed (peace be upon him). It is in Al-Awali District, on Qurban Road, south of the Prophet&rsquo;s Mosque. It is 1500 meters to the northeast of the Quba Mosque. The well is lined with basalt stones and is surrounded by building foundations. Historical sources narrate that Malik bin Al-Nahhat dug the Ghars Well, the grandfather of Sa&rsquo;ad bin Khaythamah bin Al-Harith (May Allah be pleased with him), the latter of whom owned the well when he hosted Prophet Muhammed (peace be upon him) during the Hijra (migration) from Mecca to Madinah. The Prophet was said to have drunk water and made ablution from the well. He dreamed that he took his position on a well from Paradise. In the morning, he took his position on Ghars Well. The Prophet instructed Ali bin Abi Talib (May Allah be pleased with him) to wash him, after his demise, with seven waterskins from Ghars Well. He attributed the well to himself, referring to it as &ldquo;my well.&rdquo; This well still bears witness to episodes in the fragrant life of the Prophet, blessings and peace be upon him. Visitors of the well quench their thirst, feel happy, and learns moral lessons. They drink from its fresh water, and recall the history of early Muslims. A Spring from Paradise: The Prophet, blessings and peace be upon him, used to drink from its water. He performed ablution from its water and poured the rest of his ablution into it, so its water became abundant and did not run out. It was narrated that the Prophet, blessings and peace be upon him, spat in it and poured honey that was given to him into it. He also requested that he be washed with its water after his death. He referred to it as "my well" and said that it was a spring from paradise. Restoration and Development: The well was restored and enclosed by a roofed iron screen. The surrounding yard was covered with natural rocks, and a two-meter-high wall was built around the yard, while taking care of the historic mosque adjacent to it. Water has been re-pumped out of the well to provide it to visitors of this Prophetic well. Well Location and Opening Times: The Well of Ghars is located in Quba, 1,500 meters northeast of Quba mosque. Today, it is in the midst of the populated area. After its restoration and the development of its site, people visit the well to see its landmarks and recall the relevant episodes in the life of the Prophet, blessings and peace be upon him. The well is open to visitors daily from 9:00 to 1:00 pm, and from 3:00 to 7:00 pm. Accessing the Well: The well can be reached via Ali bin Ali Talib Road. It is next to Ash-Shawi Private School.

The Well of Ghars

When he emigrated from Makkah to Madinah, the Prophet (ﷺ) stopped at this well and built near it the first mosque in Islam, Quba Mosque.

An Overview: In his emigration journey to Madinah, the Prophet (ﷺ) was warmly received by the Ansar at this Well. Its Story: This well is linked to one of the most important stories of the Prophet&rsquo;s biography; namely, the story of his emigration from Makkah to Madinah. The Ansar used to go out every day, waiting for his arrival, until they felt the scathing heat of the sun, then they would go back to their homes. However, when they heard about the arrival of the Prophet (ﷺ), they went out to meet and welcome him. At his arrival to Madinah, the Prophet camped in Quba near the well of Athq. This is the first place in Madinah where the Prophet (ﷺ) stayed. Its Significant Location: This place witnessed the first deeds by the Prophet (ﷺ) in Madinah: &bull; It is the first place to be trodden by the Prophet (ﷺ) after his arrival in Madinah. &bull; It is near to the first mosque built by the Prophet (ﷺ). &bull; It was associated with the first day in the glorious history of Islam, which will then be known as the Hijri calendar. The Origin of its Name: When the Prophet (ﷺ) stopped at this well, he was served a bunch of dates. When he asked about it, he was told: &ldquo;It is athq of Um Jerthan.&rdquo; So, he said: &ldquo;Oh Allah, bless Umm Jerthan.&rdquo; The well then came to be known as the Well of Athq. Its Description: This well is now located in an orchard called 'Bustan al-Mostazal'. Surrounded by a stone wall, the well is still full of fresh water. It was renewed in 1064 AH. Currently, it is situated within a garden, equipped with benches and a small walkway. Getting to the Well: The well is situated opposite Quba Mosque on the west side, and is 3 kilometers to the south of the Prophet&rsquo;s Mosque. The well is open to visitors from 6:00 am to 11:00 pm. &nbsp;

Athq Well 

The Prophet (ﷺ) sat at it and gave the glad tidings of Paradise to Abu Bakr, Umar and Uthman. It embraced the ring of the Prophet (ﷺ).

An Overview: The Well of the Ring is one of the most important wells in Madinah because the Prophet (ﷺ) drank from it, sat on its wall, and gave the glad tidings to Abu Bakr, Omar and Othman (RA) of being admitted to Paradise. The ring of the Prophet (ﷺ) fell into the well and remained in it. Its Geographical Location: The Well of the Ring is located approximately 38 meters west of Quba Mosque. Its Name: It was called the Well of Arees, after a man named Arees, but when the ring of the Prophet (ﷺ) fell into it, it became known as the Well of the Ring. Two Incidents Related to the Well of the Ring During the Prophet&rsquo;s Time: This well is linked to two renowned biographical and historical stories. The first one is that the Prophet (ﷺ) performed ablution and then went out until he reached the Well of Arees. He sat at the mouth of the well stretching his legs into it. Meanwhile, Abu Bakr, then Omar, and then Othman came to him, and he conveyed to them the glad tidings that they would be admitted to Paradise. The other story is related to Othman (RA). While he was at the well, wearing the ring that was worn by the Prophet (ﷺ), and then by the Caliphs, Abu Bakr and Omar, the ring fell from his hand into the well. So, he strived hard in searching for it inside the well, but in vain. Its Present Status: Due to the well's status in the Islamic history, the relevant authorities have taken care of the well, which is currently enlisted in the project for Development and Rehabilitation of Islamic Historical Sites.

The Well of the Ring 

Al-Ihn Well is one of the prophetic wells that were associated with the biography of the Prophet (ﷺ). The Prophet passed by it, performed ablution with its water, and changed its name from Al-Asirah to Al-Yasira, and so made its memory go down in history.

An Overview: Al-Ihn Well or Al-Yasira, as the Prophet (ﷺ) called it, is one of the prophetic wells in Madinah. It was associated with his biography and with some of his honorable companions. The celebration of the well is due to the fact that the Prophet (ﷺ) passed through it and performed ablution withits&nbsp;water. So, it became an eternal prophetic monument. it is one of the known historical wells in Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah since the era of the Prophet (Peace be upon him). According to historical sources, the Well is situated in Al Aalyia, on the land of the Bani Umayyah ibn Zaid of Al-Ansar. In some narrations, it was referred to as the Well of Al-Yaseerah. Moreover, it was stated that it is one of the prophetic wells, but not all sources concur. The Well was dug into a mountain and is very salty. Its Names: The well has two well-known names: 1. Al-Ihn Well 2. Al-Yasira Well, which is the name given by the Prophet (ﷺ) to the well after he visited it and performed ablution from its water. Prior to that, it was called Al-Asira. Its Story: The well was associated with the Prophet (ﷺ) and remained a witness to his visit and ablution from it. He passed by the well and asked about it. He was told that it was called "Al-Asira". So, the Prophet (ﷺ) changed its name to "Al-Yasira", as it was his habit of changing unpleasant names to ones with good denotations. Additionally, the body of the great companion, Abu Salama Al-Makhzoumi (RA), was washed with water from this well. It is worth mentioning that Abu Salama is the foster-brother of the Prophet (ﷺ) and his cousin, being the son of the Prophet's aunt, Barrah bint Abd Al-Muttalib. Abu Salama participated in the battles of Badr and Uhud. He was wounded in the latter battle, his wound healed, but reopened later and led to his death. He was washed at the well of Al-Ihn. The Well in the Saudi Era: After the issuance of the royal decree to designate and preserve antique Islamic sites in Makkah and Madinah, the competent authorities have taken great care of the well. It is now part of the project for Developing and Rehabilitating Islamic Historical Sites. Its Geographical Location: Al-Ihn Well is located in Aliat Al-Madinah, about 3 kilometers south of the Prophet&rsquo;s Mosque, and about one kilometer east of Quba Mosque. It is about 100 meters away from the main road leading to Quba neighborhood. Its Access: The well can be reached via Prince Abdul Mohsen ibn Abdulaziz Road, leading to the Prophet&rsquo;s Mosque.

Al-Ihn Well

The Prophet (ﷺ) sat at this well when he called on the companions to help Salman Al-Farisi (RA) plant the grove in which he was working.

An Overview Features of the well still bear witness to a famous incident in the Prophet&rsquo;s life. This incident occurred on the farm where Al-Foqair Well is located, and where the companion, Salman Al-Farisi (RA) was working. As a manumission of the honorable companion, Salman Al-Farisi, the Prophet (ﷺ) and his companion planted about 300 palm trees. It happened that these palm trees bore fruit in the same year, and Salman Al-Farisi became free. Its Names The well has many names: 1. The Well of Salman Al-Farisi: It is called so because it is linked to the manumission of the companion Salman al-Farisi and releasing him from slavery to the owners of the farm. 1. Al-Maythab Well: It was named after the piece of land owned by Mukhairiq who gave it to the Prophet (ﷺ), who in turn and gave it in charity. 3. Al-Foqair Well: It is named as such because when the Prophet (ﷺ) wanted to help Salman Al-Farisi by ordering 300 palm trees to be brought to plant them with his own generous hand, and said: "&ldquo;faqqiru&rdquo; for us" (i.e., dig for us), so it was named after that act. Its Significance The well is one of the Islamic relics and milestones that show the way Muslims lived during the Prophet&rsquo;s era. It gains its importance from the fact that the Prophet (ﷺ) sat on it. Its Description Today, the well is located next to the farm of Salman Al-Farisi (RA) and is included in the development of Islamic monuments projects. Its Geographical Location and Access Today, the well is located next to the farm of Salman Al-Farisi (RA), about 3 km southeast of the Prophet&rsquo;s Mosque. It can be reached via the secondary Al-Hijra Road, then turning right via Ali bin Abi Talib Road.

Al-Foqair Well

Al-Hajeem Well is situated in Al-Aasbah, the territory of Banu Jahjba ibn Kulfah, a member of the Al-Aus tribe. 

Al-Hajeem Well is situated in Al-Aasbah, the territory of Banu Jahjba ibn Kulfah, a member of the Al-Aus tribe. It was inhabited by settlers before the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) arrived in Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah. Then, there was Banu Jahjba Atam Al-Hajeem, known as Atam Al-Hajeem, and right next to it was Al-Hajeem Well. According to historical accounts, the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) prayed at the Al-Hajeem well in Al-Aabah, west of Masjid Quba, surrounded by several farms and wells.

Al Hajeem Well

The well of Rumah, which is located on the northwestern side of Masjid An-Nabawi in Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah. The well still exists. 

Well of Rumah (The Well of Uthman ibn Affan)

The Saqifah was the locale of one of the most important political dialogues in Islam, which resulted in the pledge of allegiance to Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq as the Caliph of the Muslims.

An Overview: Saqifat Bani Sa'idah refers to the place where the pledge of allegiance to the first Caliph of the Muslims was held immediately after the death of the Prophet (ﷺ), unanimously by the emigrants and the Ansar who gathered in the Saqifah. Its Story: Saqifat of Bani Sa&rsquo;idah is one of the most important historical Islamic landmarks in Madinah. It is not only associated with the story of the pledge of allegiance, but is also linked to the Prophet (ﷺ), as he had visited the place. It also hosted the first political dialogue among Muslims after the death of the Prophet (ﷺ), which resulted in the pledge of allegiance to Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq (RA) as the first Caliph of the Muslims. Its Description: A saqifah is a spacious place. It is covered with branches of trees or palm fronds and surrounded by walls on three sides and is open on the fourth side. Saqifat Bani Sa'idah is a farm that belonged to Bani Sa&rsquo;idah bin Ka&rsquo;b al-Khazraji. It contained adjacent houses inhabited by Bani Sa&rsquo;idah tribe amid the orchards, with a well nearby. The Ansar used to meet at the Saqifah for consultations and resolve their issues. Its Location: Saqifat Bani Sa&rsquo;idah is located on the northwestern side of the Prophet&rsquo;s Mosque. Visitors can reach it directly from the Prophet&rsquo;s Mosque on foot.

Saqifat Bani Sa'idah

Mount Bani Ubaid is one of the mountains of Madinah that was associated with the events of the Battle of the Trench. It is one of the borders of the trench. It witnessed one of the miracles of the Prophet (ﷺ) in which he conveyed the glad tidings of the victory and empowerment of this religion.

An Overview: It is one of the important prophetic milestones associated with the Prophet's biography. It is considered one of the borders of the trench that the Muslims dug around Madinah in the fifth year of the Hijrah. The Mount also witnessed the occurrence of one of the Prophet&rsquo;s miracles. Its Story: In the fifth year of the Hijrah, the Muslim people in Madinah heard that the polytheists of Quraysh and their allies had decided to invade Madinah. The companion, Salman Al-Farisi (RA) advised the Prophet (ﷺ) to dig a trench around Madinah to prevent the polytheist fighters from entering Madinah. The Prophet and the companions dug the trench, which stretched from Ratij, a mountain in Madinah, to the Mount of Bani Ubaid. So, the emigrants dug from Ratij to Thubab, and the Ansar from Thubab to Bani Ubaid Mount. So, the Mount of Bani Ubaid became an important landmark telling the story of the Battle of the Trench. The Prophet's Miracle at the Mount: Several Prophetic miracles occurred during work in the trench. In one occasion, the Muslims encountered a rock that they could not break, so the Prophet (ﷺ) came, hit it with the pickaxe and said: &ldquo;I am given the keys of the Levant.&rdquo; He struck it again and said: &ldquo;I am given the keys of Persia." and He struck it a third time and said: "I am given the keys of Yemen." So, the rock fell broken under the Prophet's strikes. Its Geographical Location: The Mount of Bani Ubaid is about 2.5 km to the northwest of the Prophet&rsquo;s Mosque. Bani Ubaid Mountain

A tour that takes you to the landmarks of the Battle of the Trench, the incidents of which are narrated in the Holy Qur’an (Surat Al-Ahzab). You will first visit the spot where the digging of the trench started, and the site of the Prophet's tent. As you stop at the spot where the miracle of increasing the food took place, you will visualize the miracles of the Prophet (ﷺ) .

The Trench

It is a small mountain behind the Mount Uhud, and constitutes the northern boundary of Madinah sanctuary.

An Overview: Mount Thawr is a small mountain behind Mount Uhud, north of Madinah. It forms the northern boundary of the sanctuary of Madinah, as stated in the Hadith: &ldquo;Madinah is a Haram (Sanctuary), and extends from A'yr to Thawr.&rdquo; Its Description: The mountain was called by this name because it resembles the shape of a bull, especially when viewed from the eastern or western side. The black rocky part that tops the mountain resembles the hump of a bull, and the rest of the mountain appears in its homogeneous red color as if it is the body of a bull. Its Significance: &bull; Madinah sanctuary is bounded by A'yr Mount from the south, which is about 16 kilometers away from Mount Thawr. &bull; Thawr Mount, located north of Uhud Mount, marks the boundary of Madinah sanctuary from the north. Getting to Mount Thawr: Thawr Mount is located behind the Mount of Uhud in the north of Madinah, about 9 km away from the Prophet&rsquo;s Mosque. It can be reached through Prince Nayef bin Abdulaziz Road.

Mount Thawr 

It is a great, lofty mountain that the Prophet (ﷺ) set as the boundary of Madinah sanctuary from the southern side. At the foot of this mountain the Miqat of Dhul Hulaifah is located.

An Overview: A'yr Mountain is one of the most prominent mountains in Madinah and one of its most important southern landmarks. It was mentioned by the Prophet (ﷺ) as one of the boundaries of Madinah sanctuary. Its Story: A'yr Mountain is one of the biggest mountains in Madinah. It was set by the Prophet (ﷺ) as a landmark that defined Madinah sanctuary south boundary. It is one of the two mountains referred to by the Prophet (ﷺ) in his saying: &ldquo;O Allah! Ibrahim declared Makkah a sanctuary and it became sacred, and I declare Madinah a sanctuary&mdash;between the two mountains (i.e., A'yr and Uhud).&rdquo; When the Prophet (ﷺ) came from Makkah to Madinah as an emigrant, he took a road to the east of A'yr Mountain. Its Significance: The Mount acquires its significance from its association with the boundaries of the Madinah prophetic sanctuary. The Prophet (ﷺ) made it the southern boundary of Madinah. By crossing it, a person will be out of the sacred territory of Madinah, and it becomes permissible for him to do what is not permissible inside the sacred sanctuary of Madinah. Additionally, the Miqat of Dhul Hulaifah Mosque was built on the western slopes of the mountain. Dhul Hulaifah is one of the spatial Mawaqit for Hajj and Umrah for the residents of Madinah and those who pass through it. To the west of the mountain flows the blessed Al-Aqiq Valley, which is mentioned in hadiths. Its Geographical Location: This great mountain is located in the southwest of Madinah, and to the east of Al-Aqiq Valley near Dhu Al-Hulaifa. The closest point of it is about 7 km from the Prophet&rsquo;s Mosque. It can be accessed via Al-Hijrah Frontage Road.

A'yr Mountain

Al-Aqiq Valley

It is one of the most important historical monuments in Madinah. It is an important military fortress built at the foot of Mount Uhud, and considered one of the fortifications of Madinah.

An Overview: Uhud Castle, the first fortification built in Madinah, was constructed at the end of the Ottoman era. It consists of two towers for protection and observation. The castle is a significant milestone that tells chapters of the history of Madinah. Its Story: At the end of the Ottoman era, the Ottomans feared rebellion against them. So, they built Uhud Castle at the foot of Mount Uhud as a monitoring and protection tower. It was equipped with the necessary openings for firing cannons and other openings for monitoring, and had an open monitoring yard. Its Description: This is a military castle. Therefore, it is equipped with all the necessary fixtures for surveillance and protection. The general design of the castle appears in the form of two overlapping circular towers; the largest is the main part, to which the smaller tower is connected from the inside through stone stairs leading to the top of the roof. The castle was built from the stones of the mountain itself, so its color appeared to be in harmony with the color of the mountain, as if it were a piece of rock. Its Location: The castle is located in the northwestern side of Madinah, on the northwestern end of Mount Uhud. It is approximately 9 km away from the Prophet&rsquo;s Mosque. It can be reached via Othman bin Affan Road leading to the north of Madinah.

Uhud Castle

It is a majestic mountain that had a special place to the Prophet, blessings and peace be upon him, who said: "Uhud is a mountain that loves us and we love it."

Religious and Historical Significance: At the foot of Uhud, one of the greatest battles of Islam, the Battle of Uhud, took place. Seventy of the companions, including the Master of Martyrs, Hamza ibn Abdulmuttalib, may Allah be pleased with him, were martyred in this battle. The Messenger of Allah, blessings and peace be upon him, often referred to it as an example of magnitude. For instance, commending his companions, he said, &ldquo;Do not revile my companions, for if one of you were to spend as much gold as Uhud, it would not amount to a handful spent by one of them or even half of it." Overview: &bull; The mountain is approximately 4 km north of the Prophet's Mosque. &bull; It was given this name due to its isolation from the surrounding mountains, so it stands separate from the rest of the mountains. &bull; This mountain extends as a chain from east to west, and slants north. It has the following estimated proportions: - Length: 7 km - Width: 2-3 km - Height: up to 1,077 m Unique Nature: Mountain rocks vary in color from red granite to dark green and black. Many caves, cracks, and cavities that hold rainwater are found in the mountain. Easy Access: Despite the intensive urban development and the many cultural changes that have taken place around Mount Uhud, the mountain has been preserved, even though it is surrounded by neighborhoods and modern roads. It has preserved its nature and shape. Those who wish to go to this mountain can easily reach it through paved and serviced roads. You can go to Mount Uhud using one of the following: 1. The Heritage Quarter

A majestic spot that witnessed the most intense moments in the life of the Messenger of Allah and his honorable companions. The sincerity of the faith of the Companions, may Allah be pleased with them, and the betrayal of the hypocrites and Jews surfaced here, in great events immortalized by the Qur’an and ended with the victory of the Prophet and his companions.

<h4 class="aos-init aos-animate" style="direction: ltr;" data-aos="fade-left" data-aos-duration="800">General Information:</h4> The Trench is the name of the groove dug by the Messenger of Allah and the Muslims to protect Madinah from Quraysh polytheists and their allied tribes. The battle that took place on its sides was called the Battle of the Confederates, in which the Qur&rsquo;an immortalized the details of the morale and reactions of the two armies, as well as the subsequent great victory of the Messenger of Allah, blessings and peace be upon him. It completely changed the balance of power. This drastic change is reflected in the Prophet's saying after the allied forces returned with a bitter disappointment: 'From now onwards, we will attack them. They shall not be able to attack us. We will go to them." This battle took place in 5 AH. The Trench as a Warfare Tactic: The enemies of the Messenger of Allah, including the Jews of Khaybar and Banu Nadir and their allies from Ghatafan and Fazara, agreed with the polytheists of Quraysh and its allies from Kinana and the Tihama to eliminate Islam and Muslims. An army of 10,000 fighters gathered, and was later joined by Banu Qurayza after they broke a treaty with the Muslims. The Prophet, peace be upon him, consulted his companions to devise a plan. Salman Al-Farisi, may Allah be pleased with him, advised the Prophet to order Muslims to dig a trench. It is a tactic employed by the Persians when attacked in their cities, but it was unknown to the then Arabs. So, the Prophet, blessing and peace be upon him, approved of Salman's advice and dug the trench in the northern border of Madinah because it was vulnerable, while from other directions the city was naturally fortified by mountains, rugged lava plains, farms and connected houses. Trench Location and Dimensions: The trench is located in the north of Madinah, approximately 2,500 meters from the Prophet's Mosque. Starting at Al-Sheikhin area, it extends from the eastern lava plain to the western one. The trench extends north of Al-Raya Mosque in what is now Othman ibn Affan Road, passing along Jabal Sala', where Al-Fath Mosque stands today. The trench extends west to Al-Madhad. The trench is approximately 5,544 meters long, 4-5 meters wide, and 3 meters deep. It shall be noted that the soil removed from the trench and piled on the Muslim side formed an additional barrier. The Trench as a Historical Landmark: The trench has disappeared long ago. Only some traces of monuments that are saturated with meanings and remind us of those immortal stories remained. The most important of these are: 1. The trench track 2. Al-Fath Mosque, aka. Al-Ahzab Mosque and Al-A'la Mosque. Some of the most important events of the Battle of the Trench took place here. 3. The Seven Mosques. 4. The Cave of Bani Haram: it is the cave in which the Messenger, blessings and peace be upon him, slept over a few nights during the Battle of the Trench 5. Al-Raya Mosque and Hill: the mosque was erected on the site where the command tent was erected for the Prophet, blessings and peace be upon him, during the days of digging the trench. 6. Bani Haram Mosque: it is located in Shi'b Bani Haram. Next to the mosque, the miraculous increase of food took place. 7. Al-Khandaq Mosque: it is a congregational mosque built during the reign of King Abdullah. Trench Visitors Today: The place is an ideal destination for visitors from around the world. They can see the landmarks of the Prophet's life, inspect the remaining traces around the trench, and visualize the battle in which Muslims were engaged.

The Trench 

   It is one of the famous landmarks in Madinah. The Prophet, blessings and peace be upon him, used to visit it and pray for the martyrs buried there with forgiveness. 

Uhud Martyrs Square is one of the most famous landmarks that Muslims are keen to visit because it represents a historical memory associated with the events of the Battle of Uhud, which took place in the third year of the Prophet&rsquo;s emigration. Location: Uhud Martyrs Square is five kilometers to the north of the Prophet's Mosque. Landmarks: &bull; Sayed Al-Shuhada Mosque: A mosque built in Rajab 1438 AH. &bull; The Archers&rsquo; Hill: It is a small mountain&mdash; south of Mount Uhud&mdash; from the top of which you can enjoy a panoramic view of the Martyrs Square and its landmarks. &bull; Mount Uhud: One of the biggest mountains in Madinah, after which the Battle of Uhud was named. &bull; Martyrs Cemetery: Seventy companions who were martyred in that eternal battle were buried here. Battle of Uhud: Mount Uhud witnessed the unfolding of several events, including a battle between the Muslims and Quraysh infidels. The battle was named after the mountain. The Prophet, blessings and peace be upon him, tactically withdrew to this mountain to save the Muslim army when the tides of conflict shifted, and victory tilted in favor of the polytheists. The archers&mdash; whom the Prophet, blessings and peace be upon him, ordered to protect the backs of the Muslims&mdash; left their positions before the Prophet gave orders. The shattered pagan army took advantage of this incalculated mistake, and abruptly attacked the now vulnerable Muslim army from behind. Seventy Muslims met martyrdom in this battle, foremost among them was Hamza bin Abdulmuttalib&mdash; the uncle of the Prophet, blessings and peace be upon him, Musa'b bin Umair&mdash; the bearer of the banner of the Muslims in that battle, the commander of the archers&mdash; Abdullah bin Jubair bin Nu'man, the martyr who was washed by the angels&mdash; Hanzala bin Abi Amer, and many other companions, may Allah be pleased with all of them. The Prophet, blessings and peace be upon him, ordered them buried on the battlefield in their blood-perfumed clothes. Each two or three martyrs were buried in a single grave. Those who were more versed in memorization of the Holy Qur'an were buried first. Graves of Our Brothers: The Messenger of Allah, blessings and peace be upon him, used to regularly visit the martyrs of Uhud from time to time to greet them and pray for them. Some companions used to accompany him during such visits, and he used to say to them: "These are the graves of our brothers." The Messenger of Allah, blessings and peace be upon him, continued to visit them, even during his last illness of which he died. Official Saudi Care for Uhud Martyrs Square: Uhud Martyrs Square and the surrounding sites witnessed many improvements and development works, the latest of which was the Development of Sayed Al-Shuhada Square and its Surroundings Project. The architectural style of many houses in Asl-Shuhada neighborhood was reconsidered and standardized. A standard architectural design inspired by the nature of the place and its ancient history was introduced. The project also covered the construction of Sayed Al-Shuhada Mosque, which can accommodate 15,000 worshippers. It is considered one of the largest mosques in Madinah after the Prophet&rsquo;s Mosque, and was built on an area of more than 54,000 square meters. It comprises various basic services and facilities, a parking lot for buses and cars, and a pedestrian walk. A space has also been allocated for vendors selling goods, gifts and food to visitors in an organized manner. &nbsp;

Uhud Martyrs Square

The Prophet (ﷺ) placed fifty of his companions on a small mountain near the battlefield of Uhud, and ordered them not to leave their positions on the mountain whatever the circumstances. But they disobeyed his orders, so the Muslim army was defeated.

An Overview: It is a small mountain, located next to Mount Uhud, about four kilometers to the north of the Prophet&rsquo;s Mosque. It is the mountain on which the Prophet (ﷺ) ordered the archers to station themselves during the Battle of Uhud to protect the Muslims and prevent the polytheists from attacking the Muslims from behind. Its Story: &bull; The polytheists of Makkah wanted to attack Madinah in the third year of the Hijrah, in revenge for their defeat in the Battle of Badr. So, they set out with 3,000 fighters, whereas the Muslims went out against them with 700 fighters and camped beside the Mount of Uhud. &bull; Before the start of the battle, the Prophet (ﷺ) ordered 50 good-archers to station themselves on the Archers' Mount and shoot the polytheists' army with arrows. &bull; However, when the archers (RA) saw the retreat of the polytheists, they thought that the battle was over. So, many of them went down to collect spoils, violating the orders of the Prophet (ﷺ) not to leave their positions on the mount. &bull; This mistake allowed the polytheists to rally around the Muslims and attack them from behind. Seventy companions were killed, and the polytheists almost reached the Prophet (ﷺ), had it not been for Allah protecting him with the steadfastness of the companions around him. Getting to the Mosque: The Archers&rsquo; Mount is a small mountain, 180 meters long and 40 meters wide. It is of little height. The Archers’ Mount 

Dar Al-Madina Museum, the memory of Islamic civilization in the prophet's city, embodies the various chapters of the prophet’s life, and preserves Madinah heritage, urban monuments and historical events. Visitors enjoy a unique cultural and thought-provoking tour.

History and Monuments of Madinah:
The museum is one of the most important landmarks of Madinah. It is the first museum to display Islamic cultural heritage in creative ways and reality simulation models, and pictures documenting urban heritage. It also pays much attention to the prophet's life and historical monuments.
The museum was inaugurated in 2011. It aims at preserving the Islamic and architectural monuments and historical inscriptions that were removed from the vicinity of the prophet&rsquo;s Mosque during expansion. Thus, it connects the present and past of Madinah, preserving Madinah Islamic cultural heritage and passing it in full to future generations.
Museum Facilities:
The museum consists of the prophet&rsquo;s biography hall, architectural and cultural heritage hall, hospitality hall, the outer garden, the heritage bazaar, and the museum store. Many groups of rare collections are exhibited, including pieces of the Kiswa of the Kaaba, rare coins dating back to the prophet's and subsequent eras, Umayyad era pottery, Islamic manuscripts, rare jewelry, and traditional Madinah clothes and antiques, and some collections that date back to the pre-Islamic period.
Museum Publications:
The museum has released more than 44 publications on the landmarks and architectural heritage of Madinah. Museum library holdings include many books and journals. It welcomes students and researchers as well as visitors and tourists. More than 300,000 visitors from 52 countries have visited the museum since its inception.

The museum is located in the Knowledge Economic City, in front of the Haramain Train Station, in the east of Madinah. It is open from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm on all days except Friday. Dar Al-Madinah museum 

It is a place where you experience the rich history of Islamic Civilization under one roof. 

The station was built on an area of 90,000 square meters and features a distinct urban design dating back to the late Islamic era. It has 12 buildings that provide service to the railway. The station was opened in 1326 AH (1908), and it is one of the railway&rsquo;s most prominent stations and its 􀄤nal station. During World War I, the station was intermittently closed until it halted permanently in 1921. The Al-Suqya Mosque is located within the station walls. It was named after the nearby Al-Suqya Well, from which the Prophet Mohammed (peace be upon him) performed ablution while heading to the Battle of Badr, prayed, and supplicated for the well-being of the Muslims of Madinah. During his governorship of Madinah, Umar bin Abdul Aziz, may Allah bless his soul, built this mosque on the site where the Prophet (peace be upon him) prayed. Establishment: The museum is considered one of the historical tourist destinations in Madinah. It was established in 1419 AH, corresponding to 1998 AD, and was inaugurated by Prince Abdulmajeed ibn Abdulaziz. It is located on Omar ibn Al-Khattab St, King Abdulaziz Square in Anbariya. It is about 1,020 meters away from the Prophet&rsquo;s Mosque. Out-of-Service Railway: The Hijaz Railway was built during the reign of Sultan Abdul Hamid II in 1908. The journey of the Levant, Asia and Anatolia pilgrims from Damascus to Madianh took 5 days by train, instead of the 40 days journey using traditional means. The railway lines became inoperative after they were destroyed in 1916 during the World War I. In 1419 AH, the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities restored and rehabilitated the station, turning it into a historical archaeological museum. Historical Landmarks: The museum is an important historical institution. It showcases the history of Madinah from the pre-Islamic era through the present. The museum also immortalizes the history of the Hijaz Railway and the great services it rendered to pilgrims and visitors of the Two Holy Mosques. Museum collections include 7 safes containing artifacts, in addition to ancient manuscripts written during the reign of King Abdulaziz, and numerous early Islamic inscriptions. The museum consists of 19 galleries, exhibiting the history of Madinah from the pre-Islamic period through the modern era. It provides information on the Prophet, blessings and peace be upon him, his wives and offspring, the emigrants and helpers (ansar), etc. There are also seven artefact display halls. The museum contains parts of the Hijaz train, including 12 carriages that have been renovated and turned into restaurants for visitors. A Saudi Landmark: The Hijaz Railway Station has been transformed into an immortal historical and cultural landmark. It was turned into a museum of great historical and cultural value. The museum has been renovated and testifies to the history and civilization of the Kingdom. The Museum Today: The museum is equipped with various services. Cultural events and festivals are also held at the museum. Visitors can easily distinguish the wonderful traditional style of the museum and its surroundings in King Abdulaziz Square in Ambariya, and experience the past. Visiting the Museum: The museum is open on Saturdays through Thursdays from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm and from 4 pm to 9:00 pm. Entry is free. No reservation is required.

Hijaz Railway Museum

A Museum Documenting History of Madinah: The museum is a major destination for visitors of the Prophet&rsquo;s Mosque because it contains a historical material that helps visitors visualize the stages of expansion and architecture of the Prophet&rsquo;s Mosque down the ages, through various types of media. The museum is one of the services provided by the Presidency of the Prophet&rsquo;s Mosque Affairs. It is located in the southern courtyards of the Prophet&rsquo;s Mosque, and covers an area of 2,200 square meters. A number of qualified guides receive visitors, and provide content in Arabic, Urdu and English. Visual and text presentations are offered in 12 languages, along with audio translation utilizing state-of-the-art technology. Enriching Visitors' Knowledge: The Museum is an emblem of historical and cultural heritage that enriches visitors' experiences, as they learn about the history of the Prophet&rsquo;s Mosque, which extends for more than 1,400 years: from its inception during the Prophet&rsquo;s lifetime through the present Saudi era. Visitors are introduced to the features and status of the Prophet&rsquo;s Mosque, and the honor associated with building it. The museum raises the visitors' cultural civilizational awareness. Visitors also get acquainted with the landmarks of the Prophet&rsquo;s Mosque, such as the pulpit, the mihrab, domes, umbrellas, gates, minarets, squares, and a number of other services that are provided to visitors of the Prophet&rsquo;s Mosque. The Museum Today: At present, the museum is one of the top destinations for visitors of the Prophet&rsquo;s Mosque. The complex is a unique cultural landmark. It spreads light around the globe by printing the Word of Allah Almighty in the Arabic language and translating meanings of the Quran into many international languages, serving Muslims and conveying Islam to all people of the world.

The Largest Complex Serving the Qur&rsquo;an: The complex is the largest institution for serving the Holy Qur&rsquo;an in the world. It was Founded by King Fahd ibn Abdulaziz, and was inaugurated in 1405AH. It specializes in printing the Qur&rsquo;an, recording Quran recitations, and conducting and following research in Quranic studies, in addition to optimal utilization of advanced technologies in the field of electronic publishing and digital applications. Departments and Facilities: The complex is a magnificent architectural edifice with high capacities and multiple integrated facilities. It has an area of 250,000 square meters, devoted to achieving the complex sublime mission in serving the Word of Allah. It employs 1,100 scholars, Qur'an reciters, academics, etc. Bodies of the Complex include the Scholarly Council, the Scholarly Committee for Reviewing the Mushaf, Translations Center, Center for Quranic Studies, Digital Research Center, and Training and Development Unit, all of which operate under the supervision of the Higher Commission of the Complex chaired by His Excellency the Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance. Figures and Statistics: The annual production capacity of the complex is 18 million copies of various publications. More than 320 million copies of the Qur&rsquo;an, sections (juz's), recordings and books have been produced. The complex has also published translations of the meanings of the Qur&rsquo;an into 78 languages, 17 issues of the Journal of Qur&rsquo;anic Research and Studies, five manuscripts of the Qur&rsquo;an written by the complex calligrapher, and 13 Holy Qur'an websites. It is an incubator of culture and arts, and a microworld comprising multiple creative worlds reflecting the passion for arts featuring both local culture and modern international styles.

A Microworld of Arts: It is a cultural center that seeks to enrich the artistic and cultural movement in Madinah. The Center is considered one of the first art centers specialized in the visual arts in the Kingdom. It hosts and organizes various exhibitions, workshops and training sessions, and allows young people to display their work, and creates communities that contribute to their artistic advancement and creativity. A Quality-of-life Program: Al-Madina Art Center was inaugurated in 2018 to boost the artistic and cultural movement. It is a contemporary interactive exhibition to revive the biography of the Prophet, blessings and peace be upon him.

The Most Authentic Biography of the Prophet: The Prophet's Biography Exhibition was established to present the Prophet's biography from a holistic cultural and civilizational perspective, employing a distinctive scholarly approach based on authentic research, and utilizing state-of-the-art audio and visual aids. The exhibition is overseen by the Muslim World League. Exhibition Languages: Materials are presented in seven languages: Arabic, English, French, Spanish, Urdu, Turkish and Indonesian. Exhibition Facilities: The exhibition consists of several modern digital halls. Each hall exhibits a particular field of the Prophet's biography and Islamic civilization, using interactive screens, graphic boards, modern atlases, educational panoramas, and more than 25 main pavilions, with dozens of sub-sections and topics. The Prophet's Biography Exhibition

It is a research center focusing on scientific research and studies related to Madinah in various fields. It aims to contribute to presenting a renewed culture of knowledge and enhancing national belonging through an effective community partnership to serve the civilizational heritage of Madinah.

Its Establishment: &bull; The center was established by a lifelong charitable endowment by His Royal Highness Prince Abdul Majeed bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, who served as chairman of the center&rsquo;s board of directors. Later on, this role was assumed by the successive princes of Madinah. &bull; Among those who occupied this role is King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud during his tenure as Crown Prince in 1432 AH. &bull; In 1436 AH, His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Madinah Region, assumed the position of Chairman of the Center's Board of Directors. Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah Research and Studies Center

A big multi-discipline library, it is the largest public library in Madinah and dates back to more than five decades ago. It is one of the most prominent cultural landmarks in the region.

Diverse Intellectual Incubator: It is a public library established in 1380 AH in Madinah, in front of the Prophet&rsquo;s Mosque. Later, the library headquarters was moved to the current location in Al-Bahr neighborhood. Library holdings include books covering the various fields of knowledge, both modern and old. It also holds many collections of rare books and manuscripts. The overall stock of the library exceeds 14,000 books and manuscripts. First Bird Reserve in Madinah: The Reserve is the first of its kind in Madinah. It aims at diversifying aesthetic tourist sites for the local population. Al-Usiyah Reserve

It is a unique public space for Madinah residents and visitors. it is also a model of sophistication and community investment.

A Public Space: It is one of the most important public facilities of Madinah. It is ideal for spending a great time with family and friends. Stretching for about 4 kilometers, it is designed for long-distance walks. It is located on Ikrimah ibn Abi Jahl St., the southwest of Madinah. It is about 4 km away from Quba Mosque. The walking trail is named after its immediate neighborhood. The name was selected on the basis of an online poll on the Municipality website. Green Spaces: Al-Qaswa walking trail is one of the modern recreational projects in Madinah. It was implemented by Madinah Municipality as part of its strategic plans to improve the quality of life in Madinah, revitalize entertainment facilities in public parks, expand green spaces, and create sites suitable for walking. It is one of the top 17 walkways distributed in the various neighborhoods of Madinah. Trail Facilities: The walkway is designed in a unique urban style. All relevant services are available. The total area of the walkway, including the park, is 110,000 square meters. Green spaces cover an area of 21,000 square meters, 1 km long walking trail, and 6 watering channels. A bus stop covers an area of 1,400 square meters, and children's playgrounds of 4,400 square meters. There is also a 25-meter diameter interactive fountain, a 49-meter diameter interactive children playground, a cycling track 870 meters long, in addition to parking lots that can accommodate 340 vehicles. Visiting Time: The walkway is equipped with various services to ensure a comfortable experience. It is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The various means of transportation can be used to get to the walkway.

Al-Qaswa Walking Trail

It combines modern amenities with a historical dimension, and constitutes an outlet for Madinah residents and visitors.

Al-Aqiq Valley is one of the most famous valleys of Madinah. It was the scene of some episodes in the Prophet's life. The valley is home to some historical monuments, such as the palaces of Saad bin Abi Waqqas and Urwa bin Az-Zubayr, together with historical stone inscriptions. The walkway overlooks this valley which abounds in important historical monuments. Geographical Location: Al-Aqiq Valley walking trail is about 6 kilometers away from the Prophet&rsquo;s Mosque. It is close to the Islamic University. A Walking Trail in a Blessed Valley: Al-Aqiq Valley is a blessed valley that figures in the fragrant biography of the Prophet, blessings and peace be upon him. In this valley, Gabriel, peace be upon him, came to the Prophet while he was on his way to Makkah to perform Hajj, and said to him, &ldquo;Pray in this blessed valley, and say: &lsquo;Umrah and Hajj.&rdquo; The government of the Kingdom has shown remarkable care for this valley and built along the valley a walkway 1,600 meters long, with an average width of 14 meters, and an area of 16,500 square meters. An Integrated Walkway Within a Broader Vision: Al-Aqiq Valley walkway is one of the most important projects implemented by Madinah Development Authority, which launched a project for environmental rehabilitation of Al-Aqiq Valley and the development of the surrounding areas. Al-Aqiq valley walking trail is part of this urban project, which aims to strike a balance between urban development and natural resources, and create an outlet for Madinah residents and visitors. It combines modern amenities and a historical dimension. Combining Superb Services and Beautiful Scenery: The authorities took much care to ensure that the walkway met the latest standards, integrating state-of-the-art technologies to ensure a rewarding visitor experience and exercise. The walkway is fitted with lighting poles to enhance illumination of the area. Floor lighting points are distributed geometrically to show the aesthetics of the walkway. The walkway is also fitted with waiting benched and shaded rest areas. Palm trees, so common in Madinah, are grown in walkway squares. Trees arranged in rows along the pathways provide shade and enhance the aesthetic value of the trail. The floor is covered with basalt and granite stones to prevent the risk of slipping. Open Around the Clock: The walking trail is an outlet and a park, open to the people of Madinah throughout the year. It daily receives many individuals and families who come to exercise walking and enjoy the cool atmosphere of the place.

Al-Aqiq Valley Walking Trail

One of the Earliest Long-Distance Walking Trails: This trail is designed for long-distance walking. It is fitted with exercise equipment along the pathway and attracts the various segments of society. It is one of the largest and most important walking trails in Madinah. Part of Vision 2030: Al-Hijrah walking trail is designed to meet the requirements of the Quality-of-Life Program, a component of Vision 2030, through building and developing an environment that is conducive to creating more vital options that enhance positive lifestyles, such as sports, culture, heritage, the arts, entertainment, recreation, etc. Integrated Features in a Single Trail: Al-Hijrah walking trail is characterized by wide and comfortable areas for walks. Along the walkway on both sides, there are green spaces adorned with palm trees. The 3-km-long pathway is well-lit. Parking is also available on both sides of the trail. Some advantages of the trail are: &bull; It is considered one of the vital areas in Madinah, in terms of commercial activities and restaurants. &bull; It is considered one of the main outlets and an exercise area for residents and visitors &bull; It is a long and spacious trail, with greenery on both sides. There are also bench seating and shaded rest areas. &bull; Sports and exercise equipment along the walkway &bull; Grocery stores, restaurants and cafes are available at both trailheads. Getting to the Trail: The walkway is located along Abbas bin Ubadah St., about 2.80 km from Quba Mosque, and extends from King Abdullah Rd. to Zarara bin Qais Rd. The walkway and all its facilities are open throughout the day.
